Cargill to reopen Sheboygan malting facility

Production of specialty malt products to begin December 2007

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Cargill announced today that it will reopen its malting facility in Sheboygan, Wis. Start-up will begin on Dec. 1, 2007. In response to growing demand in the specialty malt brewing segment, the facility will focus on producing limited quantities of specialty malt products.

Cargill has owned the facility and 10-acre property – including a malting plant, grain elevators, two warehouses and an office building with office and laboratory space – since 1998. In August 2004, Cargill ceased production at the facility and has since used the site as a distribution warehouse.

“We are very pleased to reopen the Sheboygan facility to produce specialty malts,” said Doug Eden, president of Cargill Malt. “Sheboygan is a great community that we’re proud to be part of – it’s exciting for us to get actively engaged with the community again.”

The plant reopening will create approximately 11 new jobs. The plant manager will relocate from another Cargill facility.
