Employees Ratify Contract at Cargill Corn Milling in Cedar Rapids
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Members of Teamsters Local 238 today ratified a 3-year contract offer from Cargill, ending a 12-day strike at Cargill’s corn milling plant in Cedar Rapids. About 102 bargaining unit members will return to work starting with the 7 a.m. shift on Saturday morning, Oct. 13, after approving the company’s latest contract offer, presented to the union leadership early this morning.
“We are grateful to have the strike behind us,” said Mike Rizor, facility manager for Cargill’s Cedar Rapids corn milling plant. “Today’s settlement is the result of hard work by both sides through the advances and setbacks of the past two weeks. We look forward to welcoming our unionized workforce back. We have important customers to serve.”
Cargill’s Cedar Rapids corn milling facility produces cornstarch, corn syrup and other corn-based ingredients for a variety of food and beverage applications. Cargill produces starches for industrial use as well.
