FAIRVIEW, Alberta – Refurbishment of Cargill AgHorizons’ crop inputs facility in Fairview, Alberta commences on Monday, Oct. 27 with demolition of an old fertilizer tower. Following demolition, construction of a new tower and receiving system will begin. The new tower, with a capacity of 250 tons, will be fully operational by April 1, 2009.

“We recognized that our current fertilizer blending equipment could be improved through the replacement of older infrastructure with a new tower and receiving system,” said Quinton Bulford, Cargill AgHorizons Farm Service Center manager. “Under the old system, through-put times were longer, and overhead storage was insufficient. The new tower will considerably speed up fertilizer blending and loading times, reducing the time requirements for our customers during the busy periods of fertilizer application. Unload times for incoming product will also be reduced by 50 percent or greater. The new system will include state-of-the-art, computerized blending software.

“We view this investment of $2 million as another reflection of our commitment to helping our customers succeed,” he added.
