Cargill has expanded its operational use of CargoDocs, an electronic bill of lading solution (eB/Ls), to include agricultural shipments from South America. Electronic Shipping Solutions (ESS), the leading provider of shipping and trade document / data solutions, is partnering with Cargill to include new trade routes from Argentina and Brazil to Europe.

Cargill opens new U.S $40 million chicken processing facility in Russia

Cargill has officially opened a chicken processing facility at its complex in Efremov, Russia. This poultry facility represents a further investment of US$40 million at the company’s industrial complex, located 300 kilometres south of Moscow. The facility - which marks Cargill’s first primary chicken processing operations in Russia – will predominantly supply McDonald’s restaurants in Russia with high quality Chicken McNuggets as well as other chicken products.

Cargill to expand Rosetown rail service

Cargill today announced plans to increase its rail capacity at its Rosetown, Saskatchewan grain elevator and crop inputs facility to 100 rail cars to better service North Saskatchewan farm customers. Prior to the expansion the facility was capable of loading 50 car units.

Cargill launches poultry farming mentorship program in Indonesia

PT. Cargill Indonesia has announced a poultry farming mentorship program that provides hands-on training to high school students. As part of the program, Cargill has donated a teaching farm stocked with 500 local Ayam Kampung Super (AKAS) day-old chickens. Students from Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Agri Insani, a vocational school in Indonesia, will be the first to benefit from a 90-day program on how to develop and manage poultry farms.

Cargill’s animal nutrition business in Switzerland today announced that it is taking steps to strengthen its businesses in the country and position the organization for long-term growth. The company, doing business as PROVIMI KLIBA SA, has reached an agreement to sell its Penthalaz, Switzerland-based flour business to Groupe Minoteries SA, a leading flour milling company in Switzerland. The deal is expected to close in early August.

Cargill broke ground today on a U.S. $100 million investment to construct a state-of-the-art cocoa processing facility in Gresik, in the East-Java region of Indonesia. Cargill stated that the new facility is to meet the growing demand amongst customers for cocoa products and to encourage the development of the Asian cocoa sector.

Truvia® business opens a new category of sweetness and leads £3.5m growth in UK sweetener market

The Truvia® business announced today that the UK sweetener market has grown by £3.5m in 2012 – a 7 percent growth rate in a previously flat market. This growth is primarily due to the introduction of stevia-based sweeteners, which, since their introduction to the UK market in January 2012, have been responsible for 80 percent of this £3.5m growth. Truvia® sweetener is the leading stevia-based sweetener of the stevia market, representing £1.7m in its first year (source: Nielsen Scantrack).
