Cargill invites attendees to “sip to their health” at Healthy Beverage Expo

Americans are looking to “sip to their health” with great tasting functional beverages. A recent Mintel study indicates that sales of functional beverages have grown as much as 267 percent since 2004, and forecasts the category will grow 19 percent through 2014. Visitors at Cargill’s booth #925 during this year’s Healthy Beverage Expo will have the opportunity to sample prototypes and finished products made with ingredients to help support joint health, provide balanced energy, and promote general wellness. The Healthy Beverage Expo takes place June 7-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Cargill breaks ground on a U.S. $100 million investment in Indonesia to meet growing customer demands and to stimulate growth of the cocoa sector in Asia

Cargill broke ground today on a U.S. $100 million investment to construct a state-of-the-art cocoa processing facility in Gresik, in the East-Java region of Indonesia. Cargill stated that the new facility is to meet the growing demand amongst customers for cocoa products and to encourage the development of the Asian cocoa sector.

Cargill joins with Parrish and Heimbecker to own and operate Thunder-Bay grain terminal

Cargill today announced that it has signed a letter of intent to enter a joint venture agreement with Parrish andHeimbecker, Limited (P&H) that would have both companies jointly owning and operating Cargill’s existing Thunder-Bay, Ontario, grain terminal. The two companies will have an equal ownership in the joint venture.

Truvia® business opens a new category of sweetness and leads £3.5m growth in UK sweetener market

The Truvia® business announced today that the UK sweetener market has grown by £3.5m in 2012 – a 7 percent growth rate in a previously flat market. This growth is primarily due to the introduction of stevia-based sweeteners, which, since their introduction to the UK market in January 2012, have been responsible for 80 percent of this £3.5m growth. Truvia® sweetener is the leading stevia-based sweetener of the stevia market, representing £1.7m in its first year (source: Nielsen Scantrack).

Cargill’s animal nutrition business conducts voluntary recall of lamb feed

Cargill’s animal nutrition business today announced a voluntary recall of Showmaster® S-Series Show Lamb Feed (BW) because it contained incorrect sodium molybdate levels. To date, there are 170, 50-pound bags of feed still out in the market. Cargill continues to take appropriate steps to pursue retrieval on those bags.

Cargill reports third-quarter fiscal 2013 earnings

Cargill today reported net earnings of $445 million in the fiscal 2013 third quarter ended Feb. 28, down 42 percent from $766 million in the same period a year ago. Nine-month earnings totaled $1.83 billion, up 66 percent from $1.1 billion in the prior year. Third-quarter revenues edged up 1 percent to $32.2 billion, which brought nine-month revenues to $101.2 billion.

Cargill installs ground beef production equipment; adds up to 20 new jobs at Wyalusing, Pa., beef plant

To meet retail customer and consumer demand, Cargill is investing $2.3 million to install ground beef production and packaging equipment at its Wyalusing, Pa., beef processing facility. The equipment will add significant ground beef production capacity at the plant, while also increasing employment by 15-20 fulltime jobs.

Cargill launches academy to train future leaders in palm oil

Cargill recently announced the official launch of the Cargill Tropical Palm Learning Academy, an institute of continuous learning with the objective of developing and nurturing professionals and future Cargill leaders in oil palm management. The academy, located in Manismata, West Kalimantan, is also Cargill’s first-ever specialized learning institution of its kind in the world, aimed at training professionals in the palm oil industry.

Cargill today announced that its oil palm plantation, PT Hindoli in South Sumatra, has received official Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification. The ISPO is a non-profit public body that assesses standards for the sustainable production of palm oil in Indonesia.
