Amazon rainforest carbon credits. Cargill awarded USD $3 million to Columbia University and the Amazon Forest Carbon Partnership (AFCP) to help preserve the Amazon rainforest. This first-of-its-kind project will attempt to reduce deforestation and degradation by establishing a reliable standard for forestry carbon credits. |

Propelling shipping with kite-powered vessels. Cargill has signed an agreement with SkySails GmbH & Co to use wind power technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the shipping industry. A 320m2 kite will be installed on a handy-size vessel, making it the largest vessel propelled by a kite in the world. |

Mapping the oceans. Since 2008 Cargill has invested in the Antinea Foundation's effort to help map 100 of the most important marine eco-regions in the world. The funds also support research and environmental innovation in the areas of marine environment, biodiversity, ecology and other areas. Over 100 Cargill employees have been involved in the project, lending expertise and volunteer time. |

Volunteering in our communities. Cargill employees and retirees from 300 Cargill Cares Councils around the world contribute more than 100,000 volunteer hours and millions of charitable contributions. Cargill Business Units in the ETI platform have donated funds and volunteering time to support various projects in the communities in which they operate, ranging from funding children’s aid groups in South Africa to volunteering in local food shelters in the United States. |
