Since 1972, Cargill Australia has been in the Australian Oilseed Industry, producing vegetable oils and protein meals. Cargill processes over 600,000 tons of canola, cottonseed, sunflower seed and soybeans annually in Australia. These produce protein meal for animal feed and vegetable oil for foods such as margarine, salad dressings and frying.
Cargill Beef offers an extensive line of premium quality beef products to retail, food service and export markets. Founded in 1991, Cargill Beef Australia (CBA) is located throughout Australia. Access to quality breeds and genetics is crucial for CBA to deliver premium quality products. Cargill established a direct cotton marketing business in Australia in 2000. Cargill Australia serves cotton growers, ginners, buyers and textile mills worldwide.
Cargill Crop Nutrition is a major seller of phosphate fertilizers into Australia from their phosphate production plants in Florida, USA. Cargill Crop Nutrition Australia is the exclusive export marketer of up to 500,000 tons of phosphate fertilizer from the WMC plant in Queensland, Australia.
Toshoku, a food trading company owned by Cargill, uses its Melbourne office to source a variety of food and feed products for the Japanese markets. These products include grain, dairy powders, flour, meat products, oils and oilseeds, wine, retail and canned goods.
In April 2003, Cargill Australia Limited and GrainCorp Operations Limited combined their grain and oilseed origination functions to form Australian Grain Accumulation Services Party Ltd (AGA).
To build modern and efficient storage facilities at Red Bend and Henty in New South Wales, Cargill Australia Limited established a joint venture with GrainCorp Limited. A joint venture was also established with BFB Pty Ltd to build modern and efficient storage facilities at Temora in New South Wales.
In 2002, Cargill Australia Limited launched a joint venture with GrainCorp Limited to purchase Goodman Fielder’s flour milling business: Allied Mills. Allied Mills has a national network of flour mills and uses approximately 1,000,000 tons of wheat annually.

Cargill’s oilseeds plant in West Footscray hosts five students from Sunshine Secondary College twice a year, for one week of work experience. The activity is part of a program which provides students with hands-on opportunities to apply quality management to workplace situations.
