Cargill has been active in Italy since 1962 and, following the recent acquisition of Degussa’s food ingredients business, has around 700 employees in 11 locations - Milan, Castelmassa, Modena, San Felice, Sospiro, Spessa, Termoli, Padova, Chiogga, Vigonza and Verona.Cargill has activities in the following areas in Italy:
• grain and oilseed trading • animal feed production and sales • animal feed consulting service • agriculture risk management • water transport services |
• sweeteners and starch production and sales • flour milling • specialty food ingredients including flavours and texturisers |
2006 - Cargill acquired Degussa Food Ingredients, including its Italian site in Vigonza.
2006 - Cargill acquired Pagnan's waterways transport business.
2005 - Cargill acquired Pagnan's grain and oilseed meals trading business.
2005 – Cargill acquired the Mangimi Emmetre Srl animal feed brand from Moretti.
2004 - Cargill acquired the Agridea feed brand from ASA srl Gruppo Pizzolo.
2003 - Cargill acquired a 10% shareholding in Grandi Molini Italiani SpA (GMI), a major Italian
flour miller.
2003 - Cargill combined its Italian businesses to form Cargill S.r.l.
2002 - Cargill acquired Cerestar - a leading provider of starch and starch derivatives - the largest acquisition in Cargill's history. This acquisition included Cerestar's sweeteners plant in Castelmassa.
2001 - Cargill acquired the Agribrands feed business in Italy, including its Purina and Sildamin feed brands.
