Poland
We opened our first office in Poland in 1990 following many years of grain trading in the country. Cargill has approximately 800 employees in ten locations in the country — Warsaw, Wroclaw, Sierpc, Sieldce, Ropczyce, Krzemieniewo, Krzepice, Gdansk, Kalisz-Lis and Kiszkowo.
Cargill has activities in the following areas in Poland:
- Animal nutrition, production and distribution
- Production and sales of glucose syrup, starch and starch derivatives
- Wheat gluten production
- Grain and oilseed trading
- Specialty food ingredients including texturisers
- Risk management
Cargill Investments in Poland
- 2008 - Cargill announced the expansion of its wheat processing facility in Wroclaw, with the addition of a flour mill and development of its existing ethanol line.
- 2007 - Cargill acquired LNB International feed BV, a privately held animal nutrition premix business, including its plant in Kiszkowo. This acquisition has extended Cargill's current suppy network to new markets while also adding premix to the portfolio.
- 2006 – Acquired Degussas food ingredients business, including its Polish site in Kalisz-Lis
- 2006 – Announced we will invest US$35 million in the expansion of our plant in Wroclaw
- 2004 – Installed new production line to produce crude alcohol in its sweeteners plant in Wroclaw
- 2002 – Divided our animal feed offerings in two: Cargill Animal Nutrition supplies feeds for the larger farmers and direct to customers, while Nutrena supplies feeds for small- and medium-sized farmers distributed via a dealers network
- 2000 – Production began at our 100,000 metric ton plant in Krzepice. We also constructed a pet food plant adjacent to the feed mill
