Cargill entered the Turkish marketplace in 1960 with local partners. Since 1986 we have been operating under our own name. We have nearly 300 employees in 4 locations in Turkey: Baglarbasi-Istanbul, Yarımca, Orhangazi and Pendik Vanikoy.
The Cargill Turkey head office is located in Istanbul; and, we operate in 4 major sectors — food, finance, oilseeds and steel.
We have activities in the following areas in Turkey:

Recent Cargill investments in Turkey
- 2002 – Acquired Cerestar — a leading provider of starch and starch derivatives
- 2000 – Began production at our wet corn milling facility in Orhangazi
- 1999 – Began operating a grain storage silo and port facilities in Yarimca, in cooperation with Rota Denizcilik ve Ticaret A.S.
- 1997 – Began our iron and steel trading operations in the country
- 1994 – Established our emerging markets business to operate in financial markets
- 1992 – The new head office is opened in Istanbul
- 1989 – Acquired Vanikoy maize wet corn milling facility located in Pendik Istanbul to produce glucose sweeteners and starches
