Cargill Cares Wichita
Giving Back to the Wichita Community
In addition to our North America protein business headquarters in Old Town, Cargill is taking further steps to reaffirm our commitment to the Wichita community by focusing on building meaningful partnerships and engaging our employees. Cargill’s multifaceted approach to community giving provides the flexibility that allows us to deliver value to organizations throughout the Wichita area. Our goal is to strengthen partnerships and alignment with organizations to generate targeted, visible and measureable improvement in our community.
Our new community giving strategy continues Cargill’s long tradition of supporting important work that makes the Wichita area a better place to live, work and play. We believe our new process will deliver more impactful and long-lasting value to organizations and people in the region.
New Giving Process
One of the primary methods for delivering value to the community is through our Cargill Cares Council. The Council is comprised of a small team of full-time employees who have made the commitment to invest additional time outside of work hours to assist local organizations on behalf of Cargill. The mission of our Council is to deliver financial assistance and leadership expertise to a variety of worthy local organizations by offering support in the focus areas most important to Cargill – nutrition, food security, sustainability and employee engagement.
Our new strategy requires all donation applications to be channeled through our Cargill Cares Council. The Council will only solicit monetary grant applications via invitation twice each fiscal year. The Council will no longer provide any product donations. During defined application periods, Council members will send application packets to the designated contacts of the selected organizations. This process will allow for improved management of funds and more impactful partnerships with organizations.
If you believe your organization is well aligned with Cargill’s key focus areas, and would like to be considered for a future application, please let our Council know! Please feel free to provide general information about your organization along with some suggested ways our Council could provide support, to [email protected]
Partnering with Kansas Food Bank
For many years, Wichita Cargill Cares has maintained a strong partnership with the Kansas Food Bank, which is located in the downtown area. Both organizations are aligned in our mission to feed those in need within the Wichita area. We believe that through our joint efforts, we will be able to make significant strides for improving one of our primary areas of focus – food security.
Cargill Cares is partnering with Kansas Food Bank to offer a new way of delivering support for those organizations in our community that are in need of food. Qualified organizations can apply to Cargill’s Nourishing Kansas grant by contacting the Kansas Food Bank directly.
Supporting Our Employees and Our Community
As one of the largest companies in the Wichita area, we know that our employee base is an invaluable asset to our company as well as our community. Our plants and offices are filled with people dedicated to making a difference in a variety of ways. We encourage our employees to play a part in improving our community by supporting the causes within Cargill’s key focus areas, as well as those organizations most important to them personally. To ensure support for our employees, and the organizations they help, we’ve introduced an employee match program for all Wichita-based Cargill employees. Through this program, every voluntary commitment made to charitable organizations by our employees will be further enhanced with company funding.
If you’d like to get Cargill employees involved in your organization, please send information on group volunteer opportunities to [email protected] at least one month in advance of the activity date. Opportunities will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
