Theory of Change

Theory of change

We focus at the start of the supply chain, because that is where some of the most pressing challenges are found – and it is where we can make the greatest impact. Everything always comes back to how we create lasting benefits for cocoa farmers, their families and communities, empowering them to own their futures and achieve their own business success. Our long-term ambition is to foster and support sustainable, local agri-food businesses in origin countries. Farms and forests must coexist to nourish our world, protect our planet and enrich our communities. Our Cargill Cocoa Promise is in integral part of this and so are our cocoa processing plants at origin.

We work directly with farmer organizations, community leaders, and NGOs with specific knowledge and expertise to assess the most pressing needs on the ground and develop tailored solutions. The process of collaboration is ongoing, lasting long after the initial program development phase. We regularly gather feedback from all stakeholders about the progress we are making and if needed, correct course along the way.
