Because we run one of the largest dry bulk fleets in the industry – at any one time we operate over 350 vessels – we set the bar high on the quality of the vessels we employ. Through our rigorous and comprehensive ship vetting procedures we strive to protect the safety of crews, cargoes and the environment from the possibility of a shipping incident.

Initially our ship vetting  program captured and consolidated fleet information on over 7,000 vessels into a proprietary database. In 2007, we increased that knowledge and capability through a one-third acquisition of the global vetting system Rightship. We continually work with Rightship and our fellow stakeholders to update the global fleet information with inputs from our daily operations. Our goal is to find new and innovative ways to raise the quality and standards of global shipping.
