Want to know more?
Cargill is a leading player in pectin, supporting customers with over 80 years of production experience. We were the first to supply commercial quantities of this unique, water-soluble hydrocolloid, and today, we offer one of the broadest pectin portfolios available.
Sourced from apple pomace and citrus peels, this nature-derived ingredient is one of our core label-friendly texturizing solutions. It provides great gelling and thickening properties, and our range includes options that vary in texture functionality, cost and functional attributes. We can even create tailormade solutions for specific applications, helping us meet your different customer and consumer needs and create positive product experiences.
Unlocking pectin’s possibilities
Our passionate teams go above and beyond to ensure our UniPECTINE® specialties help to meet your unique formulation and texture needs. We take the time to understand your specific needs in order to provide solutions, not just products. Whether you are looking for specific gelation, setting speed, viscosity, mouthfeel or stabilization, we partner with you to find a pectin solution Uniquely perfected for you.
Quality testing
Cargill quality teams work with well-defined, proven methods to confirm our product functionalities. We use test protocols to help ensure consistent quality. Our application test protocols verify the actual performance of batches we produce in specific consumer goods. This allows us to confidently match the pectin product to the application in which it will be used, a pragmatic approach that helps to offer peace of mind for our customers.
Sustainable production
In 1948, Cargill pioneered commercial-scale pectin production, opening the world’s first factory in Redon, France. Initially, the facility focused on HM pectin production, but in 1965, we added LM pectin capabilities.
Today, our pectin production and supply network includes four plants, spread over two continents.
For example our newest plant in Brazil is strategically located in the heart of the country’s fruit peel cultivation area allowing us to process fresh and dry peels that we source from certified farmers.
Our production facilities are among the most advanced in the world. We continuously advance in our technologies used to ensure a fast and flexible response to customers' requirements.
The recent addition of our fourth facility in Bebedouro, Brazil, strengthened Cargill’s position as a reliable pectin supplier. The new plant leverages advanced technology to reduce its environmental footprint and includes sustainable raw material certification. This starts with the plant’s proximity to its Rainforest Alliance certified farmers, which helps minimize CO2 emissions from raw material transport and promotes regenerative agriculture practices. Adding to its environmental credentials, our state-of-the-art Brazilian plant is powered by thermal energy generated from biomass and biogas, using sustainability practices already proven at other company facilities.
