Lactation Solutions

Improving dairy cow productivity and farmer profitability

Improving dairy cow productivity and farmer profitability

We help dairy customers exceed milk production goals by supporting all aspects of the operation and running nutritional programs centered on custom nutrition at the right stage of production.

Healthy cows that not only produce high-quality, high-quantity milk but also reproduce for many cycles also is key for profitability. Major physiological, nutritional, metabolic and immunological changes occur when the production cycle of a cow shifts from a gestational non-lactating state to the copious milk synthesis and secretion. Gaps between nutrient demand and supply in the first weeks of the transition period can coincide with substantial variations in the diets’ nutrient content and in the daily dry matter intake. This calls for comprehensive adaptation and regulation of the metabolism. If a cow doesn’t cope well with metabolic demands, the stress can result in ketosis, milk fever, retained placenta, metritis, displaced abomasum and lameness.

We offer precision nutrition solutions based on the Cargill Nutrition System and product portfolio to support the metabolic processes during this time of change. Our calf and heifer nutritional support programs also support high-yielding lactation in the future.
