This is demonstrated through our sustainability goal #4, to provide full “first-mile traceability” (i.e., farmer-to-plant traceability) by the end of 2030. 

The CocoaWise™ Portal is the primary vehicle we use to demonstrate, quantify, and prove how we are delivering Promise Solutions (Cargill’s diverse portfolio of sustainable products and services). In this article, we cover everything you need to know about CocoaWise™.

What is CocoaWise™, and what does it do?

When you purchase Promise Cocoa products - products made with beans entirely sourced through our direct sourcing networks in West Africa, from known and trusted farmers and farmer organizations benefiting from the Cargill Cocoa Promise), you are granted access to your customized digital report via the CocoaWise™ platform.

This report consists of three modules - My Product, My Finances and My Program, all allowing you to learn about different facets of our approach to providing sustainable cocoa and making positive impacts on the livelihoods of cocoa growing communities. 

These modules contain individual information about 1) your sustainable product deliveries, cocoa origins and supply chain (My Product), 2) financial investments – how these are distributed in the form of cash or in-kind payments among farmers, farmer organizations, and program implementation (My Finances), and; 3) the positive progress and impacts made in cocoa sourcing countries, thanks to you contribution (My Program).

You can gain a greater level of visibility into your supply chain, and directly access reliable and relevant metrics that can be stacked up against your sustainability targets. This allows you to accurately report on the progress you make to both internal and external stakeholders.

For us, transparency and traceability need to benefit farmers first. Therefore, we have introduced a suite of CocoaWise™ digital tools designed to increase transparency and traceability while enhancing cocoa farming community well-being.

All sustainability and first-mile traceability data gathered through the CocoaWise™ digital tools are compiled in a centralized data platform, CocoaWise™ 360, for further analysis. CocoaWise™ 360 combines data from multiple sources which allows us to get a clearer picture of what is happening on the ground, helps assessment of interventions, and shows where impact can be increased. The CocoaWise™ Portal pulls the most relevant information from this data platform to inform reporting.
