We offer cocoa liquor, cocoa butter and cocoa powder under the finest quality brand Gerkens Cacao®.

Our cocoa liquor and butter is supplied to the chocolate industry. Our cocoa powder is supplied to the food industry, s.a. dairy-, confectionery-, bakery- and ice cream producers.

Chocolate products

We offer chocolates and compound coatings for industrial and artisanal customers. Products range from plain, milk and white chocolate for liquid delivery to solid products in block-form, buttons, sprinkles, drops, organic chocolate, vegetable fat based fillings, yoghurt compounds and fillings. With our six European factories in place we are able to offer a complete range of tailor-made products.

Sustainable sourcing of our cocoa beans

Cargill employee with cocoa producerCocoa trees need a tropical climate to grow and to produce cocoa beans. Cocoa is grown in several areas throughout the world although bout 80 percent of the world’s cocoa is produced in the West African countries of Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon. Other important countries for the supply of cocoa beans are Indonesia and Brazil. The crop in Côte d'Ivoire accounts for over 40 percent of the world crop, which is produced by approximately 800,000 small-scale family farmers.

High quality cocoa, grown in a sustainable way, is essential to the economies and the livelihoods of farming communities in cocoa growing countries, and for Cargill, our customers and consumers. This is why we are investing in, and supporting, activities to help cocoa farmers to improve agricultural working practices and to deliver benefits to local communities.
