Employees in many U.S. locations, including Minneapolis, Memphis and New Orleans participated in service events including packaging healthy snack packs for at-risk children in shelters, delivering meals, community clean-up projects, working with local food banks, and building homes with Habitat for Humanity.

These activities are recent examples of the commitment our employees and retirees have to the communities where we work and operate. Our people lend their time and talent around the world to advance access to health and nutrition programming, support innovation in education, and protect our global natural resources. Collectively and individually, we build homes and schools, mentor youth, educate farmers, clean up shorelines, feed hungry people, and much more.

“It is very rewarding to work with Cargill in all of their community service activities throughout the year,” said Julie Dyste, Caring Connection program coordinator, Greater Twin Cities United Way.  “Honoring Dr. King’s legacy of service is a wonderful way to celebrate with Cargill employees and kick off a new year of volunteering and service.”

“Engaging employees in service activities ─ such as the MLK Day of Service ─ allows Cargill to be an active member in enriching the communities in which we operate,” said Armetha Pihlstrom, secretary of Cargill’s Ebony Council leadership team and MLK Day of Service chair.  “In addition, we have the opportunity to educate not just our employees, but also the groups we serve, about the legacy of Dr. King.”
