Cargill vice-chairman to speak on food security at upcoming Economist Conference in Geneva

The Economist Conference in Geneva. “Feeding the World: The 9 billion question. On Wednesday 8 February, Paul Conway will speak at The Economist Conference in Geneva.  The theme of the conference is “Feeding the World: The 9 billion question” and Paul will join a number of big names form agribusiness, policy, international agencies and the NGO community, including: Graziano da Silva, new FAO Director General, Pascal Lamy,  Director General, WTO; Paul Bulcke, CEO of Nestlé, and Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Agriculture, Food and Fishing.

With the global population expected to surpass 9 billion people by 2050, the issue of food security – how to produce sufficient volumes of safe, nutritious food and connect it with people around the world, at affordable prices – is one of the most important of our time.

Paul will focus on the vital role farmers will play in meeting this challenge.  In particular, he will highlight the importance of markets and prices in helping farmers make important decisions: decisions that will both improve their own incomes and help connect their produce with consumers in places where it is most in need.
