Our performance in 2025

Our performance in 2025

We are passionate about building a more sustainable future for the aquaculture industry so it can provide protein the world needs. This includes reporting regularly on our progress. Here, we share data from our global aqua nutrition operations and supply chains, accompanied by relevant highlights.

Pilar Cruz

“Sustainable aquaculture is essential to feeding a growing world. At Cargill, we are advancing solutions across the value chain—from reducing the footprint of feed ingredients and supporting the adoption of regenerative agriculture to developing innovations that improve fish health and farm performance. Together with our partners and customers, we are helping build a more resilient and responsible aquaculture sector for the future.”

Pilar Cruz
Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer

Helene Ziv-Douki

“Delivering sustainable growth in aquaculture requires continuous innovation and close collaboration across the value chain. At Cargill, we bring together people, processes, and partnerships to support customers in improving performance while reducing environmental impact. In doing so, we are helping strengthen the resilience of the aquaculture sector for the future.”

Helene Ziv-Douki
Senior Vice President, ANH EMEA & Global Salmon

2025 sustainability highlights

Product

• More than 96% of the marine ingredients originating from forage fisheries used in our coldwater feeds were certified or from a Fishery Improvement Project (FIP).

• We developed a specialized feed solution for closed salmon farming systems in Norway to support water quality and micronutrition.

• ADAPT Low Impact helped Ecuador’s shrimp farmers reduce nutrient accumulation to improve water quality.

People

• We continued to expand our Women Entrepreneurs in the Shrimp Sector program in Ecuador, with 170 participants this year.

• We supported the communities where we live and work through a variety of events, donations, and volunteering in countries like Chile, Ecuador, and Norway.

• Every member of our aqua nutrition leadership team and 98.5% of our aqua nutrition employees completed ethics and anti-corruption training.

Planet

• Our coldwater feed raw materials had an average Scope 3 footprint of 1.48 tCO2e per tonne including land use change, a 14% reduction over 2024.

• Across all our aqua feeds produced in 2025, we have reduced our Scope 1 and 2 emissions per tonne of feed by 41.9% since 2020.

• Support we provided to a Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) in Mauritania funded a study that confirmed the continued presence of the endangered humpback dolphin in the area.

Product

We are innovating across our portfolio in an effort to make our products and services more sustainable and to help our customers raise healthier and more productive aqua species.

People

We strive to create equitable workplaces for people across our aqua nutrition business and safeguard the rights of those in our supply chains.

Planet

Our approach to managing our value chains aims to use resources more efficiently, reduce our impact on ecosystems, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Partnerships

With the world more connected and interdependent than ever, we are engaging stakeholders across the sector to drive lasting positive impact.

About our data

This is the 17th year that we have shared sustainability data for our aqua nutrition business and the ninth year including warmwater feeds. In that time, we have shared our environmental and social sustainability performance, as well as our goals for continued progress.  We invite stakeholders to share their feedback on our progress.

The data on this section of our aqua nutrition sustainability website is updated annually for the prior calendar year and pertains to sustainability performance for our aqua nutrition business for calendar year 2025, unless otherwise noted. This data demonstrates our performance on key indicators that are material to our aqua feed business, with clarity on our reporting boundaries, calculation assumptions, and context where needed. In many cases, we compare performance relative to 2020 as a baseline, aligning with Cargill’s corporate-level reporting. Data is rounded to three significant digits, in line with Cargill’s overall reporting practices. Product performance and other statements are based on internal analyses, field trials, or third-party information under specific conditions and are not guarantees of future results.

Cargill produces aqua feeds at 22 facilities. Of these, 10 are primarily livestock feed or premix production sites. For this reason, these multi-use facilities have historically been excluded from the scope of our sustainability data. We continue this approach for 2025 data, reporting only on our mills solely dedicated to aqua feed production and only those that were in operation for the full calendar year. This totals 12 mills across eight countries. Our six coldwater mills produce feed for salmonid species. Our six warmwater mills serve shrimp, tilapia, and other species.

We align with broadly known, transparent reporting standards, reporting with reference to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. We refer to GRI Universal Standard 2021 and reporting disclosures specific to our aqua nutrition business as a guide for all data families.

Cargill reports externally on company-wide material topics through our annual Impact Report. This report, along with supply chain grievance dashboards and other public information, can be found on Cargill’s Reporting Hub.
