About Mariano
Mariano Berdegue is senior vice president for Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) Americas, including the complete feed, premix, Micronutrition & Health Solutions, and aqua businesses in North America, Mexico, Ecuador, Central America, Brazil and Argentina.
Mariano joined Cargill in 2011 through the acquisition of Provimi, where he was the country lead for the Cargill Premix & Nutrition (CPN) business in Mexico and country manager. Since then, Mariano has been managing director for CPN Latin America North, Cargill Feed & Nutrition (CFN) Thailand and Vietnam, and Cargill Animal Nutrition (CAN) North America. He was also vice president of Strategic Marketing and Technology for CAN globally. Prior to joining Provimi in 2010, Mariano worked for 13 years at Monsanto where he had several commercial and management responsibilities in Mexico, the U.S. and the Andean Region. Mariano enjoys leading organizations through integrations and turnarounds.
Mariano has served as a board member for several agricultural, financial and tourism organizations. He currently serves on the board of directors for Grupe S.A. de C.V., which is the holding company of El Cid Resorts in Mexico. He has also served as the Ag Committee chair for the American Chamber of Commerce in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam; vice president of the Premix Group of Consejo Nacional de Fabricantes de Alimentos Balanceados, a Mexican feed association; vice president of FEEDLATINA, a Latin American feed association, and board director of the Latin American Development Bank, which specializes in promoting agricultural projects in Latin America. He was also previously on the executive board for the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA).
Mariano earned a Bachelor of Science in agricultural engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master of Science and PhD in entomology from Texas A&M and University of California, Riverside, respectively. Mariano has an Executive Master of Business Administration from IPADE Business School in Mexico as well.
Mariano resides in Mexico. He is married to Maria Saenz and they have four children: Santiago, Emilio, Lola and Valentina. He enjoys reading, playing tennis and golf, and horseback riding.
