Our performance in 2024
We are passionate about building a sustainable future for the aquaculture industry so it can provide protein the world needs. This includes reporting regularly on our progress. Here, we share data on our operations and supply chains, accompanied by successes from across our global aqua nutrition business.

Product
We are innovating across our portfolio to make our products and services more sustainable and to help our customers raise healthier and more productive aqua species.
People
We are creating equitable workplaces for people across our aqua nutrition business and safeguarding the rights of those in our supply chains.
Planet
We are dedicated to a holistic approach to sustainability, using resources more efficiently and lowering our impact on ecosystems and the climate across our value chains.
Partnerships
With the world more connected and interdependent than ever, we are engaging stakeholders across the sector to drive lasting global impact.
Our priority topic areas
We use the aqua nutrition value chain materiality table below to prioritize topics we measure and manage as an aqua nutrition business. Currently, we direct our attention to the topics with the highest potential sustainability impacts using a precautionary approach to the issues, but our goal is to directly manage the impacts shown across our business. The topics arise at various points in our value chain, which can make them challenging to measure and manage directly. The table below indicates where the main impacts from these topics occur, from supplies of raw materials (upstream), through our mills and operations (production), to end use at farming facilities through the fish to the final consumer (downstream).
About our data
This is the sixteenth year that we have shared sustainability data for our aqua nutrition business and the eighth year including warmwater feeds. In that time, we have used our sustainability communications to share our environmental and social sustainability performance, as well as our goals for continued progress. Cargill believes in the need for safe and sustainable seafood. We invite stakeholders to hold us accountable for achieving progress against our vision.
Please share feedback or questions
This year, we are transitioning our sustainability report to an easy-to-use digital format, although our key indicators remain fundamentally the same. The data on this section of our aqua nutrition sustainability website is updated annually for the prior calendar year and follows our 2023 report. Data on this site pertains to sustainability performance for our aqua nutrition business for calendar year 2024, unless otherwise noted. This data demonstrates our performance on the key indicators that are material to our business, with clarity on our reporting boundaries, calculation assumptions, and context where needed. In many cases, we compare performance relative to 2017 as a baseline, aligning with Cargill’s corporate-level reporting. Data is rounded to three significant digits, in line with Cargill’s overall reporting practices.
Cargill produces aqua feeds at 26 facilities. Of these, nine are primarily livestock feed or premix production sites, and their combined aqua feed output has historically accounted for less than 5% of our total annual aqua feed production. For this reason, these multi-use facilities have been excluded from the scope of our sustainability data. We continue this approach for 2024 data, reporting only on our mills solely dedicated to aqua feed production and only those that were in operation for the full calendar year. This totals 17 mills across 11 countries. Our six coldwater mills produce feed for salmonid species. Our 11 warmwater mills serve shrimp, tilapia, and other species.
We use broadly known, transparent reporting standards, reporting with reference to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. We use GRI Universal Standard 2021 and reporting disclosures specific to our aqua nutrition business as a guide for all data families.
Cargill reports externally on company-wide material topics through our annual Impact Report. This report, along with supply chain grievance dashboards and other public information, can be found on Cargill’s Reporting Hub.
