Lubricants

The functional fluids and lubricants market is where functionality and environmental profile must be balanced against cost, without compromising on performance. Our natural oils can be formulated to function with characteristics typically found in synthetic-based fluids, including

• High flashpoint
• Low volatility
• High viscosity index
• Good biodegradability / low environmental impact

We work closely with our customers to meet their specific requirements. Some typical applications include:

• Chainsaw lubricants
• High temperature processing fluids
• Bio-based greases
• Rolling oils and process oils
• Machine lubricants
• Mold-release and de-dusting oils

The most widely used vegetable oils in the lubricant sector are our monounsaturated oils, which combine good stability to oxidation and thermal degradation with liquidity at lower temperatures. For some higher temperature applications, lauric oils such as coconut or palm kernel may be used for optimal stability. Our technical grade fatty acids are used for the production of ester-based lubricant base oils.

For our European customers, all of our oils and derived products we produce in Europe fulfill the requirements for EU Eco labelling (2005/360/EC and subsequent amendments).
