The market

Despite 24% of European consumers indicating that they would not consider 100% plant-based alternatives, 50% state that they want to incorporate more sustainable foods with a reduced carbon footprint into their diets.* Pea protein, which does not require an allergen declaration, is the third most used protein in new dairy and non-dairy drinks & dessert launches in Europe over between January 2023 and August 2024 (after milk protein and soy protein), and is therefore a good choice to bring into a recipe.*

The prototype

This hybrid alternative to Greek style yogurt contains RadiPure® pea protein. This ingredient is made from label-friendly yellow peas which require no allergen declaration in Europe. This recipe can help consumers gradually get used to plant-based without a change in the consumption experience. The product achieves a “source of protein” claim.
