Your new solution for meat alternative success

Your new solution for meat alternative success In order to keep pace with the nutritional needs of a growing global population, the world needs more sustainably grown protein. That’s why Cargill and food tech innovator ENOUGH have expanded their partnership to further innovate in nutritious and sustainable alternative meat and dairy solutions.

Inside the ingredient & technology

ENOUGH’s signature ABUNDA® mycoprotein is a next-gen ingredient that delivers benefits in meat-like structure, nutritional profile, and scalability of production. ABUNDA® is a complete food ingredient that contains essential amino acids and is high in dietary fiber. ABUNDA® is produced through a zero-waste fermentation process, with Cargill’s glucose syrup as a main source.

ENOUGH’s first-of-its-kind 160,000 square foot (15,000 square meter) production facility, built in 2022, is co-located alongside a Cargill facility in Sas van Gent, The Netherlands, with initial capacity to grow 10,000 tons per annum and with plans to double this in 2025.

What and who is ENOUGH?

Founded in 2015, ENOUGH (formerly 3F BIO) is a food technology company with technology to grow a sustainable source of food protein. The company targets producing over a million tons cumulatively by 2033. Enough has a team of 65, spanning 15 nationalities, located in Scotland, England, and the Netherlands. The Dutch facility is also supported with funding from the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking within the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program, under the Plenitude grant agreement.

What this means for your success

Cargill is an ideal partner to help ENOUGH achieve its aim to grow over one million tons of ABUNDA® cumulatively by 2033. Our expertise as a food solutions leader and role at the heart of the food supply chain enables us to scale up new technologies in the alternative protein space as ENOUGH builds additional capacity. It means that sustainable meat-like structure is now one step closer within your reach.

Cargill will now be able to co-create tasty and nutritious protein alternative foods with you by leveraging ABUNDA® mycoprotein together with our broad portfolio of plant-based proteins, texturizers and fats, formulations and applications capabilities.

For example, at the upcoming Bridge2Food Europe 2024 conference (June 4-6, 2024, The Hague, The Netherlands) we will be serving up several meat alternative prototypes containing ABUNDA® mycoprotein.

Our investment in ENOUGH is just one example of how we are delivering mouthwatering meat mimicking solutions. Check out some of the plant-based meat alternative favorites you could be serving up here!
