Inside Cargill’s global FSA 3.0 Silver benchmark approved stevia program
After a rigorous, nearly year-long validation process, Cargill’s agricultural stevia program was recently benchmarked at Silver level according to Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) 3.0. We became the first stevia producer in the industry to evaluate our entire grower network and achieve this distinction.
What is the Farm Sustainability Assessment?
FSA is a standardized reference developed by SAI Platform, a food-industry organization dedicated to advancing sustainable agriculture in the food chain. It’s designed to help producers assess their sustainable practices and support manufacturers in sourcing sustainably grown products.
- 40+ countries worldwide use this third-party audit
- Benchmarks 100+ issues across social, environmental, economic and general farm management practices
- Silver is second-highest benchmark level
FSA 3.0 Silver Level Equivalence: Verifies that program meets or exceeds FSA sustainability criteria for Silver level. Cargill’s stevia program is equivalent to:
- 100% of essential criteria
- 81% of intermediate criteria
- 67% of advanced criteria

Why do sustainable practices matter?
In the wider market, there can be significant differences in sweetness quality, environmental footprint and labor practices. Cargill only sources stevia through our own program, so you can be assured of:
- Consistent, reliable products
- Full traceability from field to finished product
- Ethical sourcing, no forced labor
