“Bite” control |
Sorbidex™ sorbitol powder is used in the solid phase of chewing gum production to create the required “bite”. |
Plasticizer | Sorbidex™ sorbitol, Zerose™ erythritol, Maltidex™ maltitol and lecithins are used in the liquid phase to improve chewability. |
Tooth friendly | Sorbidex™ sorbitol is non-cariogenic and therefore ideal for “tooth-friendly” chewing gums. Zerose™ erythritol has been proven through numerous trials to be a cariostatic agent, and find its use in upper market products. |
Mouth feel | Sorbidex™ sorbitol will help you achieve the required mouth feel, whether you need an intense cooling sensation or just a faint fresh mouth feel. |
Flavor release | Lecithins can be added to flavors to prolongue their effect. |
Crunchy coating | Maltidex™ maltitol helps you achieve the required level of crunchiness. |
Non-stick dusting | C*Mannidex™ mannitol powder and Isomaltidex™ isomalt are effective in reducing stickiness and are extensively used to coat chewing gum. |

In oral care strips
Our range of hydrocolloids is often incorporated in the formulation of oral care strips as viscosity controllers, film-forming agents and flavor emulsion stabilizers. Modified starches and maltodextrins, due to their film-forming properties, are also used, in combination with other edible polymers. Lastly, polyols such as non-crystallizing Sorbidex™ sorbitol syrup can be used to modulate the strips’ strength and flexibility.
