Sustainable Coconut Oil in Chocolate

Sustainable Coconut Oil Coatings and Fillings

A global innovation meeting consumer demand for more ethical products

To create more ethical ice cream, bakery and confectionery products, Cargill’s cocoa and chocolate business is introducing world’s first coatings and fillings including Rainforest Alliance Certified™ coconut oil, sourced through a mass balance model*

Choosing our new coatings and fillings means joining Cargill in helping thousands of smallholder farmers and their families in the Philippines and Indonesia improve their living standards, while securing and strengthening the sustainable coconut supply chain for the future generations.

Do you want to meet the increasing consumer demand for more ethical products by using coatings and fillings for which we source sustainably produced coconut oil?

Leave your details to find out more about how to apply this global innovation in your product range. Our team will be in touch with you shortly.

How did we deliver this product innovation?

Partnering with BASF, Procter & Gamble (P&G) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Cargill pioneered sustainability standards for coconut, producing among the world’s first Rainforest Alliance Certified copra. Cargill’s cocoa and chocolate business benefits from the scale and expertise of Cargill’s established network in building a sustainability footprint across its global offerings; from ingredient sourcing to finished coatings and fillings.

*Mass balance means Cargill purchases a volume of coconut oil from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms equivalent to the volume used in our products to help protect forests and ensure sustainable livelihoods.
