Xtend® Sucromalt offers a solution for a new generation of food products.  The sweetener is a full calorie, low glycemic sweetener that is ideal for use in foods where a steady source of energy is desired.  Sucromalt has a lower glycemic response than sugar and glucose.  It is 70% as sweet as sugar.

Cargill granted U.S. patent for Xtend® sucromalt

Xtend® sucromalt.Cargill has been granted U.S. patent #8,512,739 for the use of its Xtend® sucromalt low glycemic index sweetener in food and beverage compositions. The patent covers the process and conditions to produce sucromalt that ensure its unique carbohydrate composition and appropriate physical characteristics necessary for handling and food application (e.g., viscosity and sweetness). Foods containing sucromalt are also covered by the patent; as a result, Cargill can offer patent protection to customers for applications containing Xtend® sucromalt.
