Syncroflex™

Contact us

Cargill's Syncroflex™ range of plasticization additives enhances flexibility without compromise for a variety of demanding applications. Syncroflex additives help increase the plasticity or fluidity of a polymer, including both monomeric and polymeric plasticizers for a wide range of complex applications - everything from low temperature environments to food contact solutions.

Plasticization applications

Plasticization in PVC

Syncroflex plasticizers can be used in a wide range of polymer types. While incredibly well suited for PVC applications, choosing Syncroflex additives for synthetic rubbers, synthetic rubber derivatives, and other polar polymers such as ABS and polystyrene have also been proven effective.

In PVC, the short distances between molecules results in strong intermolecular forces, which causes PVC to be rigid at room temperature. Plasticizers act by migrating between the PVC molecules, preventing them from coming into close contact, so the PVC remains soft and flexible (at room temperature).

Plasticization in synthetic rubbers and derivatives

Syncroflex plasticizers offer significant benefits over traditional phthalate plasticizers in synthetic rubbers and synthetic rubber derivative applications as well. Our range of products improves both mechanical and physical properties as well as resulting in process improvemenets.

Monomeric plasticizers

Monomeric plasticizers, due to their small size, offer the benefits of increased physical and mechanical properties through rapid absorption and adsorption to the polymer surface. Our monomeric plasticizers are alternatives to traditional monomeric based plasticizers offering superior low temperature stability and, in some cases, having food contact regulatory approvals. For example, Cargill's Syncroflex 3019 plasticizer vastly improves the brittle point making it ideal for applications requiring low temperature stability like refrigerator seals.

Polymeric plasticizers

Polymeric plasticizers offer superior resistance to volatility, migration and weathering over time making it ideal for applications requiring long-term stability. When compared to general purpose monomeric plasticizers (DOP), our polymeric plasticizers have been proven to exhibit similar mechanical properties while improving volatility and extraction resistance. The range of Cargill Syncroflex include polymeric plasticizers for use in coated fabrics, sports equipment, roofing membrane, electrical wiring, automotive applications, and also for use in food contact applications like gaskets and seals.
