Surface Treatment Starches

Contact us

Surface sizing of paper refers to the application of starch by means of a size press or film press. With increased speeds and energy saving requirements demanding higher application solids, this basic technology has developed into a sophisticated and demanding application. Precise run ability and excellent paper strength are a must for a successful starch in this field of application.

Our recommended products

Cargill provides top performance starches that exhibit increased internal and surface strength for improved printing quality and paper stiffness.

The sizing solution may also be used as a carrier for adding other products to the paper – such as pigments, optical brighteners and anti-wetting agents. Indeed, the current trend is to apply such functional additives through sizing – which gives 100% retention – rather than including them in the furnish.

We believe that our portfolio will contain at least one starch that suits your system, and we hope that our specialists will have the opportunity to work with you to find out which is the most suitable for your process.

Regional availability: Europe, Middle East, Africa

We offer starches under the C☆SIZE™, C☆FILM™ and C☆FLEX™ for surface sizing applications.

Regional availability: North America
