Fermentation Industry

Cargill is one of the largest suppliers of products to bioindustry manufacturers worldwide, with offerings spanning the whole fermentation process.

We start at the beginning of the upstream process, supplying raw materials such as carbon feedstocks and nitrogen sources for micro-organisms. Carbon feedstocks do not only comprise carbohydrates, but also lipids and polyols which are used in specialty fermentation applications. Cargill also offers thickener ingredients for fermentation medium preparation. For downstream processing we provide solutions for granulation and encapsulation of active ingredients and for stabilization of the finished products.

We work closely with our customers to develop solutions that meet their specific needs, drawing on our in-house fermentation expertise to support fruitful collaborations and results-driven options.

Polyols

Cargill is one of the world’s leading producers of polyols. Polyols play a role in stabilizing formulations of fermentation products such as enzymes. We offer a wide range of vegetable oil and carbohydrate based polyols including sorbitol and glycerin. Sugar based polyols such as sorbitol, maltitol and mannitol are available both in liquid and in solid form.

Starches

Cargill is offering a wide range of native and modified starches. Native starches are used as a carbon source in fermentation processes. In addition starches play a role in stabilizing formulations of fermentation products and they can be used as a carrier for encapsulation or granulation of fermentation products
