Hydrocolloids

Hydrocolloids play a role in stabilizing formulations of fermentation products. Cargill is offering hydrocolloids such as carrageenan, pectin and xanthan.

Carrageenan

Carrageenans are derived from seaweed and are known for their thickening and gelling capabilities. They can also be used for controlling the viscosity of fermentation media and for stabilizing formulations of fermentation products.

Lecithin enhances the manufacture of oil-based emulsions, suspensions and dispersions and stabilizes these systems.

Scleroglucan

Thanks to its unique rheological properties, scleroglucan is used in the oilfield industry for drilling muds, enhanced oil recovery, spacer fluids and in asphalt emulsions.
