Polymer Additives
Cargill is a leading global supplier of specialty additives for the plastics industry, working with our customers to meet market demands and consumer needs. Supported by scientific testing, Cargill's diverse range brings functionality and innovation together to deliver additives that offer differentiated solutions.
We offer a wide range of additives that are added during the processing of plastic and polymers to bring added benefits to the process or the final product.
These additives are useful for a variety of processing techniques and applications such as automotive applications, caps and closures, film structures, extrusion, resin productions, foamed polymers, injection molding, liner compounds and plastisols.
Slip
Controlled slip performance in polyolefins
Slip additives are products which can be added to polymers to control friction. They are added directly into the polymer during the extrusion process and migrate to the surface as the polymer cools, allowing a solid lubricating layer to form.
Learn more about slip additives in polymers, and how these products can help in a wide variety of applications and industries.
Static control
Migrating and permanent static control additives for a range of polymers
Static control agents are added to polymers to provide static protection by lowering the resistivity of the material. Cargill’s static control product range offers migrating and permanent solutions in a range of physical forms and longevity to provide the required static control for different materials and applications.
The Ionphase™ range of Inherently Dissipative Polymers (IDP), also known as permanent anti-stats or ion conductive polymers, reduce the resistivity of the polymer providing control and safety for static related issues. Cargill’s Atmer™ static control additives are used in applications where static protection is needed such as food and beverage and cosmetics packaging to prevent dust attraction that can affect the performance or appearance of the parts.
Anti-block
Reducing blocking to improve processing and handling
Anti-blocking additives reduce blocking at the surface of polymer films and other plastic articles to allow easier processing and handling.
Added at low addition levels they provide optimized blocking performance without impacting the clarity of the film. They can also be used in combination with inorganic blocking additives, to offer a synergistic effect whilst reducing the amount of inorganic additive used.
Anti-scratch
Improved scratch resistance for molded articles
Anti-scratch additives are proving ever-more popular due to the increasing need for more durable and re-usable plastics. Cargill anti-scratch additives reduce the visibility of scratches and scuffs on the surface, resulting in an improved look and an increased lifetime of the part.
Mold release
Improving the surface quality of molded articles whilst reducing cycle time
Cargill internal mold release additives have been designed to improve the injection molding or compression molding process. These mold release additives work at the surface of the molded part to reduce friction, allowing more efficient processing and improved part quality time after time.
Torque release
High stability torque release additives for caps and closures
Cargill torque release additives reduce friction in plastic caps and closures to allow easier application and removal of the part. These bio-based, high stability additives ensure efficient processing in a range of packaging applications.
Anti-fog
Performance you can see clearly
Cargill anti-fogging additives for plastics allow water to spread into a continuous and uniform transparent layer of water on the surface of films. This results in improved light transmission and transparency which has benefits in both agricultural and food packaging applications.
Plasticization
Phthalate free, bio-based* plasticizers for flexible PVC
Cargill plasticizers are engineered from bio-based* materials. The base oil raw material originates from renewable resources, offering safer formulas compared to phthalate-based solutions.

Reactor anti-fouling
Keep reactors free of debris and blockage with
anti-fouling products
Fouling is the process of matter building up inside the reactor walls which often causes blockages leading to increased downtime, or damage to the production line. To help prevent these issues, reactor anti-fouling agents can be used.
