Priacid™

Priacid™ is a bio-based* azelaic acid (calculated), a bio-based C9 saturated linear dicarboxylic acid that is commonly used as a monomer for the modification of high-performance and high molecular weight polymers such as polyamides, polyesters, and polurethane resins.

It is chosen for it's enhanced performance properties in demanding applications, such as:

  • transportation,
  • electronics,
  • sportswear,
  • textiles, 
  • and furniture laminates.

This includes:

  • improved flexibility
  • lower melting point
  • reduced moisture uptake
  • good hydrolytic stability
  • better solubility
  • low solution viscosity
  • 100% renewable carbon content (calculated)
  • low color
  • high clarity
  • better dye receptivity
  • abrasion resistance
  • and excellent purity for enhanced mechanical properties

It can be used to prepare or modify nylon and polyamide hotmelt adhesives, providing a balance of good water resistance properties and mechanical properties, a low melting point required for flexibility in the polyamides manufacturing process and improves low-temperature impact strength of the polymer without sacrificing high-temperature performance, and increases the crystallinity and melting point of dimer-based hotmelt adhesives.
