Priacid™
Priacid™ is a bio-based* azelaic acid (calculated), a bio-based C9 saturated linear dicarboxylic acid that is commonly used as a monomer for the modification of high-performance and high molecular weight polymers such as polyamides, polyesters, and polurethane resins.
It is chosen for it's enhanced performance properties in demanding applications, such as;
- transportation,
- electronics,
- sportswear,
- textiles,
- and furniture laminates.
This includes:
- improved flexibility
- lower melting point
- reduced moisture uptake
- good hydrolytic stability
- better solubility
- low solution viscosity
- 100% renewable carbon content (calculated)
- low color
- high clarity
- better dye receptivity
- abrasion resistance
- and excellent purity for enhanced mechanical properties
It can be used to prepare or modify nylon and polyamide hotmelt adhesives, providing a balance of good water resistance properties and mechanical properties, a low melting point required for flexibility in the polyamides manufacturing process and improves low-temperature impact strength of the polymer without sacrificing high-temperature performance, and increases the crystallinity and melting point of dimer-based hotmelt adhesives.
